Happiness

Happiness is not some treasure to chase,

Nor is it found in an empty space;

It's in the small joys that we share,

And the quiet instants when someone truly cares.

It’s the smell of hot coffee,

And the innocent smiles of a child who just got a toffee;

It's knowing that we are complete,

And in cherishing the old friendships when two long lost friends finally meet.

It is the chirping of birds in the trees,

And calm of the heart when we finally enjoy a moment of peace;

It's that one message from someone special that made our day bright,

And that tight hug which assured us everything will be alright.

Happiness is not a distant star,

It’s in everything that shapes us into who we are;

It’s not in dreams we hold for someday,

But in all the moments that take our breath away.
